The healing power of touch

One of the unexpected Holistic Health therapies I found myself doing at Indigosky Holistic was massage.

I never set out with the idea of becoming a massage therapist. However, as the knowledge of  and practice of it was studied in my Aromatherapy diploma when there was a

need arising for a massage therapist at SOUL Wellbeing where my therapy room is, i thought why not broaden my practice and include this support.

Since massage at it's most basic use, relaxing or tension relief, is a commonly known therapy it also allowed me to broaden the interest in what I do to a wider base of people, and then incorporating some of my other skills in to it it brings people in for more.

While massage may be consider as this luxury for a relaxing spa break, or to aid with muscle aches and pains, massage has a much deeper healing use than that.

Massage has an ancient history, like many of the other healing tools used at Indigosky Holistic. It has been used for millennia to aid in the healing of not just the body, but the mind too. At it's most commonly understood use, relaxation, it is known to ease tension, which can assist the massaged individual to feel less stress and anxiety. This in turn has a beneficial effect on physical wellbeing.

Many of us take our bodies for granted and the world in general can create a great deal of tension within the physical body. For some people who may live alone or away from their close family, they may not feel a human touch for days at a time. This, whether you are aware or not, has an impact on an individuals whole health. I'll touch more on this in a later blog, but briefly our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health benefits from having the touch of another living being, even if that being is an animal or tree, or the earth itself.

Make As well as its relaxing nature, massage can be invigorating and healing. Since it is by its very nature impacting the largest organ of the body, the skin, it has an effect on everything other organ and system of the body. stand out

This was one of the biggest reasons for me choosing to incorporate it more in my services

and support. If I can share with other how impactful massage is on your mind, emotions and spirit, then I am excited to bring it to you. As your life force energy is running through every cell and atom of your physical the effect of massage is brought to all of them.

What is the magic that brings this effect to you? Stimulation! As the strokes of a massage therapist touch your skin they stimulate the energy impulses in the nerves to take messages to your brain. This is what can begin to put your whole being at ease.

As we've seen massage has many benefits, another therapy with something for everyone:

  • Relaxation

  • Emotional and psycological health

  • Stress management

  • Spiritual healing

  • Pain relief

  • Post operative care

And this list isn't exhaustive.

If you would like to book in for a massage with me, of course you have to physically be able to get to me (or maybe I can come to you if you're not on the other side of the planet). You can find my beautiful therapy room at Soma Wellbeing, West Yorkshire, in the UK. If you'd like to book then you can book an aromatherapy back and shoulder massage here, or a full body massage here. All my massages have a powerful reiki, energy healing boost to them too, so you're getting 2 in 1.
